According to the News 12 New Jersey Storm Center as of approximately 7:00 AM EST on Monday, October 29, the National Weather Service has issued:

A Coastal Flood Warning effective through Tuesday 10/30 at 3:00 PM
For Eastern Essex, Eastern Union and Hudson county

A Coastal Flood Warning effective through Tuesday 10/30 at 12:00 AM
For Coastal Ocean, Eastern Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, Ocean and Western Monmouth county

A High Wind Warning effective through Tuesday 10/30 at 6:00 PM
For Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and Western Union county

A High Wind Warning effective through Tuesday 10/30 at 9:00 AM
For Coastal Ocean, Eastern Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean, Somerset, Sussex, Warren and Western Monmouth county

New York City Residents

If you live in NYC you should keep an eye on the NYC OEM’s (Office of Emergency Management) NYC Severe Weather page for advisories about about mandatory evacuations, transit shutdowns, school/college closings, how to report damages to your home or business, etc.

Regarding mandatory evacuations: As you can see from the screenshot below, there are quite a few areas being evacuated (the ones in red). You can visit nyc.gov’s Hurricane Evacuation Zone Finder to look up your address and see if you fall into one of them. Shelters are open in public schools if you don’t have friends or family you can stay with outside of the affected areas.

Update #3: Statue of Liberty webcams: If you have speakers, turn them down because that roaring sound you hear? It’s coming from the HarborCam in real time (click on it for a larger view). This is one of my favorite webcams; trust me when I say it usually sounds nothing like this.
